Lets get cozy and create some beautiful things together, here at Gemma and Company
” There is beauty in simplicity ”
– Unknown
Welcome to my blog Gemma and Company. I am so happy that you are here. My name is Gemma and all I want is to share with you all have learnt over the years in regards to simple living. My mum has always joked that my husband and I live the good life.
We don’t live in a grand big house in fact with live in a small basement suite. But what we do have access to is a big beautiful garden where we grow a lot of our own food. I am so grateful for this. I know I am very fortunate.
So lets get back to the basics. I am here to share simple recipes, made with good ingredients. Lets get our hands dirty together, we can grow a beautiful garden it doesn’t matter whether it is big or small, I started off with only a handful of pots. And lets get our hands busy with something other than our phone, I will show you some beautiful knitted, crocheted, and sewn items, that you can make too.
Feature Blog Posts
I will be posting two new blog posts on here every week. They will likely be very seasonal. I don’t know about you but different times of year evoke different feelings. I refer to myself as the seasonal crafter. My mood always changes season to season. Are you the same?
Spring
All I want to do is garden, get my seeds started, remove all the weeds and generally clean up. Everything else goes out the window. My poor husband tend to be neglected at this time of year. The hours just fade away when I’m outside knees deep in mud.
Summer
When Summers hits along with its heat, that gardening desire ebbs away slightly and is instead replaced with another urge and that is to sit back and enjoy all of my hard labor, relaxing in the garden with a crochet project or sewing is the absolute best.
Autumn
Now comes the urge to get cozy. It really creeps in, unfortunately as a gardener, now is not the time, theres lots of harvesting to do. And with that comes preserving, storing and baking. Not complaining though now is the time to reap the benefits of all your hard work back in the spring
Winter
I actually don’t mind the winter, despite its dreariness, and length. Its gives me the opportunity to reenergize and recoup. I love to knit and make yummy warming foods at this time of year. Its great sourdough weather. Now is the time to complete all of those unfinished projects. Or WIPS (works in progress) as we call them in the knitting world.
