Slow Cooker Porridge

This is a wonderful breakfast option, especially on those cold winter mornings. There’s nothing quite like a bowl of hot porridge, finished with brown sugar, syrup, fresh fruit, jam, or even a handful of chopped nuts.
It couldn’t be any simpler, you only need two ingredients milk and rolled oats. Check out this recipe by Effortless Foodie, she will take you though this recipe what to do and also what not to do.
Slow cookers have seemed to go to the wayside with Instant pots and Air-fryers taking center stage. I think slow cookers still have their place in our kitchens and have noticed them making a comeback which is really nice to see.
Egg bites

Eggs bites are a great option if you have children. Simple and easily customized to fit your families needs. Make them the night before and enjoy the very next day. Or make ahead of time and freeze them for a future date.
To a bowl of beaten eggs I love to add cheddar cheese along with ham, finely diced tomato and green onions. Pour the mixture into greased muffin tins and bake until fluffy and golden.
If you would prefer a step by step recipe for egg bites, go check out these Egg bites from Janes Patisserie they look so good.
Breakfast Muffins

Muffins are a great sweet treat to enjoy with your morning coffee. That said, they can easily be made a little more wholesome. For example, you might try a hearty bran muffin or opt for a mixed fruit and seeded variety.
Bran, seeds, fruit and grains are packed full of goodness that our bodies need and will keep us going throughout the day.
Also why not try protein muffins there are some great recipes out there. Check out this banana muffin from the clean eating couple. If you are looking for a delicious bran muffin why not try out my mincemeat bran muffin, (pictured above).
Over night oats

Ok before I go any further I need to admit something. I do not like overnight oats. I am sorry but cold oats are not my thing. That being said I know a lot out there who love them and I felt they still deserved a place on this post.
The make ahead aspect of this breakfast is already in the name. These oats are great if you have a few jars lying around and they you can make up a batch of overnight oats all at the same time. Play about with different flavours, mix it up a little.
Love and lemons has a great recipe and what is really nice, she give you four different variations to try.
Make Ahead Breakfast Casserole

When I hear breakfast casserole I instantly think leftovers. They can be either sweet or savoury in my mind also.
I have a yummy leftover cinnamon roll bread pudding that I believe can totally be classed as breakfast food. I mean it is technically the same ingredients as French toast. This can be put together the night before and then baked fresh in the morning.
As for savoury which I am guessing most of you are expecting then this is a great way to use up any leftover meats, potatoes or even any other roasted vegetables. Roughly chop them into pieces if needed, add them to a baking dish along with some eggs and grate some cheese on top of that. This again can be prepared the night before and then baked in the morning.
You can also bake these the night before and then just reheat in the morning.
Make Ahead Breakfast Burritos

Now these are one of my favourite make ahead breakfasts. You can make a lovely big batch of them wrap them in foil and freeze them.
I like to make these when I go camping. They are an easy breakfast that will fill you for the day, which is nice when your busy outdoors.
- I love a basic scrambled eggs with crispy bacon, fried onions, cheese and hot sauce.
- Or why not try egg, sausage, potato, diced tomato and
- For a vegetable burrito option egg whites with cilantro, feta, tomato, red onion, potato and spicy mayo.
- Another favourite is with leftover pulled pork add this to some eggs, fried onions cabbage and BBQ sauce. A burrito version of the classic sandwich.
Whatever your tastes, skills or time you have available to you, I am sure there will be something here that will suit you and your family. I hope that this short list will inspire you and give you some ideas for make ahead breakfast options.
