Soup season. By the end of summer, I know I’m not the only one craving all the cozy things in life—boots, sweaters, crackling fires, soft blankets, the whole vibe. And of course, comfort food. For me, that means soup. I’m especially obsessed with creamy soup, velvety cream-of-whatever soups. They’re just so versatile, and you can whip up endless variations without much effort.

Here is a collection of my favourite cream of soups. Ten delicious soups that you are able to pick and choose from. You can also download the free e-book so that you able to print and have all of these delicious recipes right at your fingertips.

Celery Creamy Soup, with Parmesan and Walnuts

Celery is one of those vegetables that always seems to be added as a faint background flavour, but why not make it the main event. This celery soup recipe really highlights celeries full potential. When cooked that slightly bitter vegetable takes on a wonderful slight sweetness.

    Leek and Potato Creamy Soup

Potato and leek soup to me is such a classic, it is up there with a creamy tomato soup. It is a great soup for all year round and fantastic if you are on a budget. It uses very simple ingredients that are usually readily available all year round.

    Butternut and Apple Soup

Butternut squash soup is definitely a winter favourite in my house. The apple adds to the sweetness while the sage balances out the sweet with it’s earthy peppery flavour. Butternut squash themselves have such a unique flavour that is sweet and nutty with a texture that is quite dense and creamy making it perfect for soup.

    Mushroom Creamy Soup

Even for those people who are not mushroom fans this mushroom soup will win most of them over, myself included. The white button mushrooms have a lovely mild favour that wont over power you. And the garlic and the sherry both add a little bit of punch to the mushrooms creating perfect complements.

Asparagus Creamy Soup, with Lemon and Dill

This soup is so fresh and flavourful. Soup tends to be such a winter comfort to me warming up the whole body when its so cold out. Heading into spring as the weather is warming what we cook in our kitchens changes. This soup is a great transition from the hearty warm foods of winter to the fresh lighter food we are now starting crave in spring.

    Vegetable Cheddar Soup

I love a vegetable soups they are so many different varieties and can be very forgiving. It is the soup I will go to if I have a selection of different vegetables that need to be used up. Why not try different combination and see what flavours you can create.

By adding a sharp cheddar cheese to a vegetable soup will add to its richness. Adding wonderful flavour.

    Roasted Bell Pepper Soup

Why have only one soup when you can have two. This roasted bell pepper soup combines a sweet yellow soup with a spicy and tangy red soup. Enjoy them separately or together.

The yellow bell pepper soup includes sweet potato and turmeric. And then the red bell pepper soup has tomato, pepper flakes and paprika. Both of these soups are lovely and warming, making them good for the soul.

    Curried Carrot and Lentil Soup

Spiced Carrot and lentil soup. garnished with cream and parsley

Carrot and coriander soup is a classic but this recipes takes it a new level. With added spices that include cumin, curry powder and turmeric. The lentils also make this soup not only heartier they add wonderful protein, fiber and a whole host of vitamins and minerals.

    Broccoli and Cauliflower Soup

creamy soup of broccoli and cauliflower

These two vegetables make wonderful soup together with the creaminess of the cauliflower and the sweeter earthiness of the broccoli they are the perfect pair. Because you can use the stalks in this creamy soup it also has very little waste.

This recipe can only be found in my downloadable e-book.

    Spiced Cherry Tomato Soup

Cherry Tomatoes make a lovely sweet soup and when they are roasted it brings out their beautiful flavour even more. This roasted cherry tomato soup is a beautiful creamy warming soup that is perfect for a cold day.

Have you ever wondered whether you can make soups or sauces from cherry tomatoes? Then yes you absolutely can in fact I think they make wonderful soups and sauces. They also have the added bonus of not needing the skins removed, the skins are so thin they blend right into the soup.

    Summary, Creamy Soups

Because these soups are blended smooth you don’t need to spend your time finely dicing the ingredients, roughly chopping them will do. This makes them quick and easy to throw together. If you are someone that likes more texture in your food then why not add some croutons, nuts or seeds to your creamy soups and experiment with different flavour combinations.

Finally let me share two lists with you. One shows the basic tools needed to make these soups. The other has a few basic ingredients you will tend to find in most of these recipes. They are pantry staples that are worth having on hand in your kitchen at all times.

Having the right tools and a few basic ingredients on hand makes cooking so much easier. When your kitchen is well-stocked, you’re far more likely to jump in and make those recipes instead of putting them off.

    Basic Tools

    • Chopping boards
    • Knives
    • Peeler
    • Medium and Large Saucepans
    • Roasting pan
    • Wooden spoons or spatulas
    • Blender, immersion blender would be my top recommendation but countertop blenders will work also well.

Basic Pantry Ingredients for Creamy Soup

    • Onions, yellow cooking onions will be the best go to onion
    • Celery, this vegetables adds a lovely earthiness and depth of flavour despite it being known as a bland nothing kind of vegetable.
    • Broth or bouillon with water, I prefer using chicken broth for most of my vegetable soups because of it’s flavour. If you would prefer to keep the soups vegetarian then a vegetable broth will work just as well.
    • Cream, what would a creamy soup be without cream. Any cream will technically work, my go to is a whipping cream but heavy, double or a non dairy alternative will also work.
